In the past, books, magazines, crossword puzzles and games were considered in-flight entertainment, none of which required the Internet. Now there is a constant need for mobile technology. To accommodate, airlines offer in-flight Wi-Fi and as a result, people can post, Tweet, watch and shop, from thousands of feet in the air. Convenience is important to consumers, but how does this affect airline security? In addition, how does this affect businesses on the ground?

Tax Day is April 15 and some people who already filed have received an unwelcome surprise, identity theft. In a February blog post, we covered the risks involved with tax season. Identity theft has been so much of a threat that the Department of the Treasury conducted an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audit. The goal of the audit was to review those identity theft cases in which the victims were due a refund and update whether the IRS was making improvements to help those affected.

In cyber security—companies, hackers and victims dominate the headlines. However, another group is emerging in cyber security efforts, the United States government. Legislators are drafting bills to promote strong cyber security. The bills vary from veteran affairs and education to government and corporate relationships.

Tech website, Motherboard, is reporting that there are active Uber user accounts for sale on the dark web, which are priced as low as one dollar. The article states, “One seller claims he has “thousands” of user logins for sale.”
