The Arizona immigration law has, once again, brought immigration reform to the forefront of the country's conscience. In an article in the Huffington Post, it describes that jobs are the number one reason illegal immigrants come into this country. The article recommends HR departments across the U.S. employ id verification and id authentication tools before hiring.
The article references a new proposed bill, New Employee Verification Act (NEVA), which would require employers to verify employment identification and employment eligibility and set penalties and consequences for noncompliance. Employee protections would also be put in place to prevent NEVA from discriminatory hiring practices.
